Sweet goldenrod (Solidago odora) is a low maintenance native herbaceous perennial wildflower with glossy anise scented foliage. Growing 2 to 3 feet tall, it has gracefully arching stems of yellow flowers that erupt from basal clumps from mid-July to September. It is primarily clump-forming and does not spread aggressively as do some of the other goldenrod species. This wildflower naturalizes well, is drought resistant and tolerates clay soil.

Sweet goldenrod is of particular importance as a pollen and nectar source for native bees. American Goldfinch, Black-Capped Chickadee, Dark-Eyed Junco, Tufted Titmouse, and White-Throated Sparrow feed on goldenrod seeds. It also attracts insectivorous birds.
