Southern Arrowwood (Viburnum dentatum) is a native deciduous shrub with flowers and fruits will attract butterflies, bees, and songbirds, growing 5 to 10 feet in height. In spring, small, white flowers mature in flat-topped clusters up to 4 inches wide. The shrub produces a bluish-black drupe that matures in late summer and early fall. More than one genetic strain needed for fruit set. Arrowwood thrives in moist well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. It is a host plant for Spring/Summer Azure butterflies and its fruits are eaten by American Robins, Cedar Waxwings, Northern Mockingbirds, Northern Cardinals, Eastern Bluebirds, and Gray Catbirds.
