New Jersey Tea (Ceanothus americanus) is an easy to grow 3-4 foot shrub that prefers sun to part shade. Its fragrant white flowers appear in late May and attract butterflies, bees, moths, predatory wasps and other insects, Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, and insectivorous birds. It is a larval host plant for Mottled Duskywing, Spring Azure, Summer Azure butterflies. It is drought tolerant and deer resistant.
