Gray goldenrod (Solidago nemoralis) is a perennial wildflower that tolerates drought and dry rocky or sandy soils where many other plants will not grow. This is a smaller goldenrod (6 inches to 2 feet) and displays a mass of yellow flowers from late summer through the fall; individual plants bloom at various times, extending the flowering season.

This is a rhizomatous, spreading, plant that can colonize an area by creeping rhizomes and self-seeding. Gray goldenrod flowers attract butterflies, native bees, honey bees and other pollinators. Songbirds eat the seeds. It is deer resistant.
