Culver's root (Veronicastrum virginicumis) is a clumping, native perennial with 2- to 6-foot spikes of 1/4-inch white, blue, pink or pale lavender flowers in July through September. Culver’s root has a a deep taproot and rhizomes which make it very tough and long-lasting once established. Its pollen and nectar are collected by short and long-tongued bees as well as by a variety of wasps, flies, moths, and butterflies. Ruby-throated Hummingbirds will feed on the nectar. Culver’s root is deer resistant.
