Blue mistflower (Conoclinium coelestinum) is a late summer to fall-blooming perennial with fuzzy blue or violet flowers atop attractive red stems. It can grow to a height of 3 feet and will spread by rhizomes and self seeding. Mistflower can get aggressive so give it plenty of space. it does best in moist, full-sun situations and is a good choice for rain gardens.

Mistflower’s nectar-rich flowers are attractive to butterflies including swallowtails, and other pollinators and songbirds enjoy the seeds. It is resistant to damage from deer.
