AdvocacyMenunkatuck Audubon Society has long been engaged in environmental advocacy. Current projects include the drive to prevent the development of Griswold Airport in Madison and maintain it as an open space area. The 42-acre site is adjacent to Hammonasset Beach State Park. Development would seriously degrade the water quality of Hammonasset's marshes as well as destroy one of the few remaining coastal grasslands in Connecticut. Another project is opposition to the proposal to build a gas pipeline through North Haven, North Branford, Branford and into and across Long Island Sound. Read articles about these two issues:
